Every Artwork Begins with a Fractal

Every artwork begins inside FRAX, using one of my own custom-designed fractal presets.

Rather than relying on the application’s built-in presets, I create and continually refine my own starting structures, giving every composition its own unique visual foundation.

Each preset contains three independent fractal layers that can be manipulated individually, providing virtually limitless possibilities for creating new forms, movement and visual complexity.

Sculpting Form and Colour

Rather than accepting a fractal as it initially appears, I gradually transform each layer through hundreds of manual adjustments.

Individual areas are recoloured one section at a time, while the structure of every layer continues to evolve. This slow process allows colour, movement and balance to emerge naturally instead of being predetermined.

Building Visual Depth

Once the primary fractal composition is complete, I create additional fractal variations.

Sometimes these are entirely new compositions. Other times they are alternative colour interpretations of the same structure.

These layers are combined inside Canva, where their position, rotation and transparency are carefully adjusted. The interaction between multiple translucent fractals creates visual depth and complexity that would be impossible with a single layer alone.

Completing the Composition

Only after the fractal foundation is complete do I create the central figure.

Using carefully written prompts, I generate a subject that matches the atmosphere and symbolism of the composition. The figure is then integrated into the artwork, while additional lighting and aura effects are added to unify every element into a single image.

The final artwork is not the result of one action, but of hundreds of creative decisions made throughout multiple stages of the process.

The Finished Artwork

The result is a layered composition that combines custom fractal structures, digital painting techniques, compositing and symbolic imagery into a single finished artwork.

Every piece represents hours of experimentation, refinement and artistic decision-making before it becomes part of my collection.
